• It is performed under general anesthesia and with a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach (4-5 small incisions from 3 mm to 10 mm)
  • Gastric Plication is a recently introduced intervention in the panorama of bariatric surgery procedures.
  • It has been proposed as a less invasive evolution of Sleeve Gastrectomy. In fact, a restriction of the stomach is determined by packaging a gastric tubule. This is achieved by folding back on itself and suturing the large gastric curvature on the guide of a probe or a gastroscope to ensure the patency and uniformity of the gastric lumen.
  • In this way, an 80% reduction in the initial capacity of the stomach is obtained which takes the form of a banana with an internal volume of about 60-100cc.
  • As with Sleeve gastrectomy, the functions of the stomach, of which only the volume is reduced, are preserved. In this way, the physiological transit of the food that is ingested is not changed, although an accelerated gastric emptying is observed.

This type of intervention is completely reversible.
