- It is performed under general anesthesia and with a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach (3-4 small incisions from 3 mm to 10 mm)
- This operation does not involve removal or section of organs and is anatomically and functionally reversible. The intervention consists in the creation of a small gastric pocket that communicates with the rest of the stomach through a narrow orifice.
- The gastric pouch is obtained by surrounding the upper part of the stomach with a silicone ring connected by means of a tube to a small tank (port) positioned under the skin of the abdominal wall.
- The tank is not visible and palpable from the outside unless possibly after weight loss.
- The silicone ring has the particularity of being able to be inflated or deflated by the surgeon simply by adding or removing liquid in the tank which is stung through the skin, thus changing the diameter of the emptying orifice.
