How can I pay?

The payment methods accepted to pay the full amount include : credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro) , debit card, bank transfer, cash money. We request 20% of the total in advance, to book the hospital stay and the operating room, to be paid by bank transfer. The data will be provided when the patient books the video consultation or after e-mail contact.

How much are the surgery interventions?

We aim to guarantee a surgical treatment at reasonable costs (even being in Italy) to solve a problem, the obesity one, which makes very hard and awkward to carry out normal daily activities. The cost varies according to the type of surgery chosen, to the Clinic chosen and to the clinical situation of the patient. Anyway, here it is a scheme with the main treatments :

How can I know if i can undergo the surgical obesity treatment ?

The obesity is defined by the body mass index (BMI) : this is the ratio between the weight and the high height squared. The patient is operable if this value is greater than 35, or if it’s greater than 30 in particular conditions. The video consultation with the surgeon will further clarify the details of this aspect.

What if the BMI is value is less than 30-35?

Other solutions can be considered, like the positioning of the intragastric balloon (Elipse). This doesn’t need a hospital stay, and only lasts 20 minutes. (go to the dedicated section for further details)

Is it necessary to carry out the video consultation?

It is not necessary. It is a service provided by our team and our surgeon. The service is paid only if the patient doesn’t book a surgical treatment. In case of booking and confirmation of the surgery, the service will be free.

Which exams do i have to carry out before undergoing a bariatric surgery treatment?

  • Blood exams
  • Psychological visit (important to choose the most adequate type of bariatric intervention)
  • Nutritional visit (suggested)
  • Pulmonological visit with respiratory funcion tests
  • Abdominal and thyroid ultrasound
  • Gastroscopy with multiple biopsies and research of Helicobacter Pylory (necessary to evidence a possible hiatal hernia, which could be fixed during the bariatric intervention, a reflux or a Helicobacter Pylori infection)

Can I undergo the exams in my nation?

Of course. Our Center offers the possibility to carry out all the mentioned the exams within 48 hours, to anyone who would’nt want to carry out the exam in his nation.

How long does the hospital stay last?

The hospital stay varies from two to seven nights, according to the complexity of the surgical procedure chosen and to patient’s health conditions.

How the type of surgery for obesity is chosen?

It has to be chosen , together with the patient, on the base of the results of the aforementioned exams, having as objective the achievement of the ideal weight and the maintenance of a good long-term patient’s health state.

Do I have to be accompanied?

It is not necessary. Many patients come alone, for the companions is provided a hotel near the clinic.

How long do I have to wait to return to my Nation after the surgery?

Generally one week.

Will it be possible to find a way to communicate between my doctor and the bariatric surgeon?

Dr. Avallone is available to leave his phone number and to answer all the necessary questions before and after the surgery.

Who can I contact if I had questions or requests after the surgery?

The patient will be given the the bariatric surgeon’s and the operating room’s staff contacts. It will be possible to ask them for any problem or doubt even after the surgical treatment.

Could I have problems in communicating?

Dr. Avallone speaks fluently English and French, the Clinic’s staff can speak English. It is possible to ask for an interpreter. During the video consultation. The interpreter is included in the price if necessary.

Is it important to follow a diet before the treatment?

A diet is warmly suggested and will be provided free at the moment of the first contact with the bariatric surgeon.

How long will it take before going back to work and resume my activities?

We generally suggest to t go back to work after 20 days from the surgical treatment and to resume physical activity after about a month and a half

How will I be followed up after the surgery?

We suggest to keep with going to the visits with the bariatric surgeon and the dietitian, and with a psychologist if necessary, every six months for at least five years after the surgical treatment. The visits can be made by video consultation, or in the patient’s Country of residence with professional figures who collaborate with our Center.

Is it necessary to return to Italy after the surgery?

It is not necessary to return to Italy, the follow up can be continued even in your own Country of residence. Some patients return for a holiday, and take the chance for a visit with our staff.

Is it necessary to take food supplements after the surgery?

Yes, it is necessary to take vitamin food supplements in the form of a tablet. This latters, in many cases, can be stopped after the first year.

How quickly will I lose weight?

The most of the body weight will be lost in the first 6 months, within12 months the loss will almost be complete, stabilizing itself at 18-24 months.

How much weight can I lose?

If the patient carefully follows the nutritional rules and is followed in the follow up, can lose even 90/100% of the excess of weight, returning to a normal weight condition

How will I have to eat after the bariatric surgery?

In the first month after the surgical treatment you will have to follow a liquid-semi-liquid diet and eventually a solid diet. We recommend 5-6 meals each day, to drink between meals still water, have small meals and chew for a long time, especially when passing from a liquid-semi-liquid diet to a solid one.

Are there any limitation in drinking alcoholics?

It is suggested not to drink alcoholics in the first 6 months after the surgery

Can I combine the surgery with a holiday?

Absolutely, after the discharge there are no limitations in performing normal activities. The hospital structures are located in Rome and province, an area very rich in cultural and naturalistic beauties. Our staff has an agreement with many local tourist boards, which will be able to provide all the necessary informations.
